The NE Region Solo Contest held on Sunday 31st last in the Bohemian Centre, Ardee, Co.Louth was a great success, with 38 soloists competing across 4 sections (from an original entry of 41).
Adjudicator James McCafferty praised the very high standard of performance in all sections, a view shared by the many experienced bandspeople in the audience.
IABCB 2010 National Band Championships will be held in the University Concert Hall,Limerick
on 17th and 18th April 2010

This year also marks a change to the format of Section 4 Concert and Section 4 Brass.
Previously, these sections have performed two own choice pieces
which has made it quite difficult to judge the standards of each entry.
After discussion with previous adjudicators it has been agreed that a change be implemented, and a set list of pieces has been provided.
Section 4 entries are asked to chose one piece from their set list
and an own choice piece (so two pieces will still be performed).
